A one day workshop on Polysaccharide Based Vaccines took place on Monday 12th March 2018 in Milan and was attended by 30 delegates. The objective of the workshop was to formulate a positioning paper on carbohydrate based vaccines.

The workshop was introduced by the CarboMet Coordinator Professor Sabine Flitsch. Roberto Adamo, GSK, gave an overview presentation on the topic highlighting important points for discussion by the whole group during the workshop. A series of break out sessions and group discussions took place to identify the challenges and needs around the development and production of carbohydrate based vaccines as an alternative strategy to overcome antimicrobial resistance.

Next steps: A draft positioning paper will be formulated based on discussions that took place during the workshop. If you were unable to attend the meeting but would like to know more or to provide input to the paper please contact projectmanager@carbomet.eu
