The CarboMet working group convened on 9th February 2017 at Harnach Haus, Max Planck Society, Berlin for the CarboMet kick off meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to take stock, collect some ideas and make plans for year 1 of CarboMet.

The working group meeting discussions could be broadly grouped into 2 areas:

  • Where we are now;
  • What is the future?

A number of topics and areas were discussed including; which groups to engage and how (glyco as well as non-glyco); which technologies to highlight; how to access existing technologies; and, current opportunities.

It was agreed that the initial areas of focus for CarboMet should be databases and sequencing and the accompanying synthesis and software needs, with the aim of developing a universal sequencing capability within 10 years.
